Christmas – A Great Time To Take a Break From Technology
Although technology has become a crucial aspect of our working and personal lives, it is still extremely important to take a little break from it every now and then.
The Christmas and New Year periods are perfect times to have a little tech detox and focus on spending quality time with family and friends.
It is an IT issue that has been of frequent discussion this year; do we spend too much time on technology and our devices? As of July this year, it was revealed that on average in Australia we each spend around seven hours a day on tablets, phones and computers. Although this may not seem like a huge figure, that is seven hours of our day where we are giving the majority of our focus and attention to technology. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there were 14.7 million active internet users in Australia at the end of July 2018, which was an increase of 3.6% from the end of December 2017. With these statistics on the constant rise, and with the National Broadband Network currently being rolled out across the country, it is easier than ever for us to be connected to the Internet and living online. So even if it is only for a handful of days, it is important to minimise screen time and really re-connect with family and friends over the holiday period.
